2006 MCKNIGHT PHOTOGRAPHIC FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENT
ORIN RUTCHICK
PHOTOGRAPHS, LLC June 9th, 2006 Orin Rutchick was named one of four 2006 Mcknight Photographic Fellowship recipients for his Push Button Memories Project Work and 2006/2007 Fellowship Plan. From 131 eligible applications these four were chosen to receive the awards by a review panel consisting of: Katherine Bussard, assistant curator of photography, Art Institute of Chicago; Pedro Meyer, new media artist, photographer, and writer based in Mexico City; and William Wylie, photographer and assistant professor of art, University of Virginia, Charlottesville. The $25,000 fellowships, which are selected on the basis of perceived and promised excellence in photographic work, are given to mid-career Minnesota-resident artists who utilize photography as a primary tool in their art with the intent of supporting their creative output over the course of a year. Besides the financial award, the four fellows will be shown in a group exhibition at the Minnesota Center for Photography in late summer 2007 and will participate in public talks about their work in conjunction with the exhibition.
